Our supply chain expertise keeps your costs under control
With Erbert and Gerbert’s® sandwich franchise opportunities, you can count on low, consistent costs and an efficient supply chain
One of the most important benefits with the Erbert and Gerbert’s sandwich franchise opportunity is our ability to help franchisees keep costs low, which we achieve through an efficient supply chain, regimented operations and excellent relationships with vendor partners. We set ourselves apart from other sandwich chains by negotiating some unique deals to benefit our franchisees.
Experienced pros to support our franchisees
We have a franchise team that knows what it takes to win in the food business. One example is Fred Koch, our Supply Chain Management and Net Partner. In that position, he plays a vital role in making sure that our supply chain and vendor relationships give franchisees an advantage in an industry with plenty of demand, drawing on his own experiences as a franchisee with Hardee’s, Taco John’s and Papa John’s Pizza.
“One thought process that I go through daily is to put myself in the shoes of the franchisee on any decision that comes in front of me,” Koch says. “I’ve been on that side of the room, as a franchisee with multiple brands, for almost 30-some years. When I’m making a decision, I use that perspective to make sure I’m helping our franchise community.”
Consistency keeps costs low
We don’t just keep costs low, we keep them consistent. That makes the business more predictable for franchisees, helping them plan ahead while growing their business. Our experience in the business means we know how to negotiate beneficial deals with our vendors.
“We have great relationships through our contracted spends. We contract about 80% of what you buy, which means much less cost variation, says Koch. “We do some unique things with our distribution company. For example, we have a flat fee per case of food for freight instead of the standard percentage mark-up. That helps control shipping costs no matter where that case goes in price.”
Supporting franchisees in every market
We’re even well-equipped to support our franchise owners as they help build the brand in new markets.
“There are some creative ways we’ve tried to go about taking care of our restaurants that aren’t in our core markets,” says Koch. “We’ve worked really hard over the last couple of years to set up redistribution networks throughout the country. That means we can bring small shipments together to get better prices. No matter what, you can rest assured I’ll go to bat for you to make sure you have what you need ready to serve to your guests at a great price.”
